What is it?

The Osteogenesis imperfecta is a disease that weakens bones and causes them to break easily without any apparent cause. La osteogénesis imperfecta Is caused by a genetic disorder in bone. Genes contain all information about our family heritage and are the cause of the resemblance between members of the same family.

SYMPTOMS

Osteogenesis imperfecta can range from mild to severe and symptoms are different in each person. Some of the symptoms that could show people with osteogenesis imperfecta are:

- bone malformations -short stature and small body - ribcage barrel shaped - spine curve, brittle teeth, respiratory problems.

Causes and antecedents

Originally disease was divided into two types: Osteogenesis Imperfecta Congenita and Osteogenesis Imperfecta Tardía.

Osteogenesis Imperfecta Congenita

Present at birth.

Osteogenesis Imperfecta Tardia

Caused by failures in the production of collagen, a key protein in connective tissue that is serving the supporting body.
