• El movimiento cibernético alcanzo su cima en los años 50, cuando se pensaba, que las máquinas, dominarían al hombre; se especulaba sobre los robots y se soñaba con construir un modelo del cerebro humano. Sin embargo, se cuestionó la utilidad de la Cibernética como disciplina científica, ya que carecía de bases sólidas que la sustenten por sí misma: la Cibernética toma ideas de la biología, de la electrónica, de la matemática

• Para los nuevos cibernéticos esto era difuso y proponen una nueva ciencia: la inteligencia artificial que se dedicaría al desarrollo de programas que tuvieran aptitudes inteligentes, Esto unido a la consolidación de la robótica también como ciencia independiente, dejaría a la Cibernética sin soporte científico.
• En los umbrales del siglo XX surgen nuevos movimientos integracionistas (ciencia con el arte) tales como Ciberpunk, Ciberarte (que mezcla el arte con tecnologías de avanzada tales como multimedia, realidad virtual, entre otras).
