Gorgona Island

Gorgona is also important from the point of historical and cultural view. Stand the settlement of a pre-Columbian culture, Tumaco-Tolita thirteenth century BC, one of the oldest cultures of the Colombian Pacific.

Gorgona Island is an island located 35 km west of the Colombian Pacific coast. The island has a length of 9 km by 2.5 km wide, with an area of about 26 square kilometers of land or about insular surface and 61 687.5 ha of marine area.

Gorgon, name inspired by the myth of the Gorgons of Greek mythology, based on three characters as beautiful as dangerous than petrifying who watched them, is an island like these magical beings, hypnotize just by looking.
